B: Books

Lorrie O'Donahue
Creative lady
Awesome friend
As a writer, I love books.

The cool, musty paper smell of libraries beats the scent of a freshly baked pie any day.

So, when a friend of mine (Hi Lorrie!!) told me she decorated a room in kid's books, I was extremely interested and told her to send me pictures ASAP.

She didn't disappoint...

Book cover boarder...I love it!

Toy Story coordinated with Toy Story toys

A variety of colors and sizes make it interesting

Who says you need to put away the toys when the kids grow up!

After I saw the pictures, I told Lorrie I would love to do this with an adult book theme.

I was imagining pulling out all my Gone with the Wind posters and post cards...maybe take lines from the story and paint them on the wall...

She said, "You mean like this?"

I swear- this gal thinks of everything!

Now. I wouldn't really attempt painting words on my walls myself.

So, I looked online and a simple internet search for "custom vinyl wall letters" sent me right to a site where I could make my own creation.

Created at Words Anywhere (Find website Here)

Oh, my. Now, I just need to convince the men in my family to replace Wolverine and his crew with Scarlett and her crew in the home office.

This was your Really Real A2Z Post featuring the letter B.

  2. A very unique idea! Books are your friends, and if you start the love for reading young, these friends will be with them their entire lives.

  3. I love this idea and vinyl wall letters are great. I've used them in the past when I had to create displays in the classroom. Thank you for the cool post!

    1. I've never used them. I have plaster walls and it's very difficult to get things to stick, but I love this idea so much, I may have to give it a try.

  4. I love the book cover border idea! I might incorporate that into my daughter's room once we get sick of the safari theme!

  5. This is a great idea! I should try it during my next house makeover :)

  6. Hi Lorrie, I would love to do this in my house, but most of the wall space is taken up by my teenage daughter's clock collection. She's closing in on 50 timepieces, from wristwatches all the way up to a grandfather clock!

BTW, Love the name of the blog. Those 'other women' on the tv are NOT real! :p

    1. Clocks would make for an interesting collection. My dad collected cameras and they made for an interesting display.

You're so right about them not being real. We are never perfect here, but we're always real!

  7. Good luck trying to convince the menfolk! But you could just stencil in a few of your own when no one's looking!

    1. That may be the wisest thing to do. Being typical men, they'd probably never notice.

  8. My ceilings aren't high enough. But I have full book shelves does that count?

    1. Yes, they do. I keep adding book shelves. Pretty soon, I won't need pictures or anything.

    1. Thank you, Donna!! I love to decorate too, but often times, the things I see are out of my skill level. We try to find things that are simple and easy. Most of us don't have the time, patience, or talent to do most of the things we see on Pinterest.

    1. I know. They wanted to replace my picture on the mantle in the living room with a Superman poster. I'm not gaining ground; I'm losing it.

  13. Not my thing, but very original. I thought Rett said I don't give a damn, not darn!! I cried buckets when I read that book many years ago. Unhappy endings do stay with you. Don't you dare start writing them though Liz.

    1. He did say damn. If I added darn, it was just my internal editor om overdrive.

I'll never write unhappy endings. Life gives us enough of those with reality- and you know how I hate reality!!

  14. That's a great idea. I have the same problem with the 'man cave' except my husband has skateboards and Batman. Visiting from A-Z :)

    1. Mine love Batman too. Mine have a man cave and the office. I'm outnumbered in this house, so they're always trying to take over more and more rooms.

  22. Life is a much better and peaceful place with books. Also as Jhumpa Lairg wisely said, "That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving an inch."

Loved the borders by the way...!
