loved having all the boys home! |
I'm at it again. And this is definitely NOT a New Year's Resolution. I don't want to make a cliche resolution to eat better, exercise more, and lose weight. I really want to make a life change. And if I keep trying, it's bound to stick one of these times, right?
I know I can do it. Over the summer, I stayed with my plan for a couple of months and lost 10 lbs. Then life exploded and my healthy eating diary got packed up with the rest of the house, soon followed by the holidays and family. Forget trying to get back to eating healthy with all that activity and stress. And that's why most people decide to wait and make changes when the holidays are over. The New Year is a good time to reset life.
So, here's the Plan that Works! for me:
- Write down all Calories
- Start with a Max of 1500 cal/day, then cut back more
- Fruit and Veggies are "Free" - I don't count those calories to encourage myself to eat more of them
- Drink more Water - I start with 16-20 oz/day and add more
- Creative Exercising - burn calories any way I can!
- Stand more at work
- Take stairs instead of elevators
- Park farther away at the store - especially if I need to shop at several stores: I park in the middle of the lot and walk around
- Master the stairs at home - I do 10 flights up and down when I can.
- Keep the house cleaner, or vacuum more... much as I hate to clean!
I'll post updates soon. And I wish you all luck with your resolutions or aspirations to improve!
Let's make 2019 a prosperous, positive year!
Hi Tara - lovely to see the family and I'm sure you enjoyed the time being all together - though no doubt too short. Good luck with all your plans - and here's to a healthier 2019 for us all - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteMy current home is one story, and I miss having stairs to climb. But whenever taking the stairs is an option, that's what I do. I generally park as far away from the store as I can.

I'll take the challenge with you!! I decided last spring to change how I looked at weight loss and started implementing some changes to life. So far, I am doing okay. I've lost ten pounds, but that was over an eight month period! Sometimes that frustrates me, but it's better to be slowly going down than quickly going up.
ReplyDeleteI keep recommending that you girls join FitDay.com so you can write your calories there and it will calculate everything for you. I lost 50 lbs that way. 1500 calories doesn't sound enough to me Tara, don't starve yourself. Of course 3 weeks in hospital I lost 20 lbs!!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to watch my chocolate intake. There's so much still here from Christmas and SO tempting! Good luck with your goals.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! I'm aiming to cut back on calories and move more too. I've already upped going to the gym 3 times a week instead of two. Yet I can't do much of anything except walk right now with my bad back.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great plan! dieting is an unending life change. I lost 50 lbs on Nutrisystem and its a struggle keeping it off but I have done pretty good. I keep my calories and 1200 and log all my food on My Fitness Pal. It's a fun app. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLisa.
thanks for the encouragement and for sharing your experiences! looks like we all have challenges, but never give up--that's how we win!
ReplyDeletehave a happy healthy year!
Everything looks so pretty! You did a great job! My daughter is 26 and I look for her to be ingaged to her boyfriend anytime now. I get anxiety just thinging about how I can give her a dream wedding when I can barely make a car payment. I hope she takes it easy on us. Her and her boyfriend live in a much higer tax bracket than ol mom and dad.
