For years, I ...I think you're right about that! For years, I did roast with just onion soup mix and water and it never turned out right. Just adding cream of mushroom soup made a huge difference...and it is an odd thing to put with roast! I think you have the science right on that.Stephanie Farishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10461865229341760836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5668435134653918759.post-4997975534545804972016-11-16T16:35:01.022-05:002016-11-16T16:35:01.022-05:00That is true...I have one of those that has the 2q...That is true...I have one of those that has the 2qt, 4qt, 6qt bowls...you just pick which one you want. But you don't have to fill even the big ones. It's just two of us, so I make small amounts of spaghetti and such. The salisbury steak recipe I use can be done with just a pound of ground beef. That's still a lot, but you don't end up with more than one steak left. Roast ALWAYS makes a ridiculous amount, though.Stephanie Farishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10461865229341760836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5668435134653918759.post-63745564804132223942016-11-16T16:33:27.657-05:002016-11-16T16:33:27.657-05:00OMG, without my slow cooker, we'd probably liv...OMG, without my slow cooker, we'd probably live on takeout. I can always freeze stuff but it is still a lot of food to prepare at once.Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14087140585742801854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5668435134653918759.post-88458216498141322252016-11-16T09:39:55.726-05:002016-11-16T09:39:55.726-05:00You know, if you cook meat in a broth, it seems to...You know, if you cook meat in a broth, it seems to get tough (unless you brown in first), but if it's cooked in a gravy or the soup, it is tender. Curious. Maybe it has something to do with the juices staying in the meat with a thicker broth.
